In July and August 2017, the Alliance française de Tamatave organized a five-week IT workshop, from July 3 to August 5, to introduce young learners to computer programming. The module taught was Scratch, an educational and user-friendly graphical programming language, usable both as a development environment, an execution engine and a website. The workshop trainers were REALY Brian and BENARIVELO Alain Christian, active members of the NGO JADE and computer science students.
The results of the IT workshop were positive: the 42 children and teenagers who took part showed great interest in the field of computer science. Thanks to this introduction to Scratch, the learners acquired basic computer programming skills, which could encourage them to pursue a career in this exciting field. The workshop therefore achieved its goal of raising awareness of computer science among the youth of Tamatave.
