Green Class 2023 - Ankanin'ny Nofy
This year, NGO Jade's "Green Class" chose iconic locations in Madagascar: Ankanin'ny Nofy and the private Palmarium reserve, both located on the east coast. These biodiversity-rich sites become the ideal learning ground for young city dwellers, allowing them not only to discover new ecosystems but also to immerse themselves in active nature conservation.
The project's main objective was to guide participants toward actively seeking solutions for local environmental protection. Secondary objectives included encouraging young people to become active citizens of their environment, enrichment through the discovery of new cultures, and the promotion of environmental education. The preparation phase, which began in July 2023, involved careful selection of locations, logistics, and communication via social media. The execution phase, held from August 25 to 28, 2023, featured educational visits, recreational activities, and interactive environmental education sessions led by NGO Jade.
The results of "Green Class 2023" were promising, with the participation of 19 outside individuals accompanied by 7 members of NGO Jade's team. The visits, planned activities, and education sessions were a success. However, some logistical challenges were identified, notably a higher-than-expected number of participants and modest food choices due to the program's reduced cost. Participant evaluations were positive, expressing satisfaction and a desire to take part in future editions. These lessons will help refine the organization for a possible second edition, strengthening NGO Jade's ongoing commitment to environmental education and the protection of our precious natural heritage.
