Open days 2021

The 9^th edition of ICT Day and Free Software Promotion, organized by NGO Jade, was held from December 13 to 18, 2021 in the main hall of C.E.D.I (Centre de l'Environnement et de Développement Intégré) in Tamatave - Toamasina 501- Madagascar. The main objectives were to offer SYS BOOTCAMP training to at least 15 learners on getting started with GNU/Linux and to share experience and knowledge in the field through a day of panel discussions. The secondary objectives were to allow local young IT professionals (and anyone interested in the field) to network and to improve the NGO's image in the city and surrounding area.

The first phase of the day consisted of a hands-on training session on the Linux operating system led by MIRATINA Quincy, an IT professional and active member of NGO Jade. It ran from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 12 pm and from 2:30 pm to 5 pm, for a total of 32.5 hours. The training was attended by nine learners aged 18 to 40 and focused on hands-on exercises given the short duration.

The day of panel discussions took place on December 18, 2021 in the main hall of ISTRA in Toamasina. It brought together around 60 people, of whom 22 were organizers and/or speakers, with the rest being university students from the city. Fifteen speakers from various organizations, students or professionals, presented a specific open source topic or a presentation of an IT/robotics company during the day. The session was moderated by Fidelice THOUSSIN, an active member of NGO Jade.

The "OPEN DAYS" 2021 edition was carried out in close collaboration with Webhelp Tamatave, Inovatic, Kalia Perspective, Ketrika High-Tech, AGIR, Tanora Mada, MPTDN, DNA Webhost, CGI Tafita and Globy. The results were encouraging, with nine people taking part in the SYS-Bootcamp training, including four Jade members, and eight talks given on various open source topics or presentations of IT/robotics companies based in Madagascar. Topics covered included the use of Python in everyday life, the world of software development as a career of the future, and application scalability with AGIR's DSL Framework
